Yul Ballesteros is a musician, composer, arranger, and producer from Gran Canaria. He is, along with Kike Perdomo, the founder of the Big Band of the Canary Island, with which they have published three CDs. Currently, Yul Ballesteros presents the audience his new CD ·Solo· (2017). The new project by the versatile guitarist moves between the instrument's tradition and the fusion with its development in the last decades. It is an intimate CD, in which the artist uses, for the first time, compositions by other artists: jazz standards mixed with some rhythms from different styles to embark on a journey to the instrument's interior from Yul's own perspective. Without any other accompaniment apart from his six strings, Yul Ballesteros deepens into a creative world which is constantly moving, and where the melodies work as a pretext to develop feelings and to try to express them through improvisation.
