In 2014, musicians Laura Sintes and Dimitri Kindynis founded Il Gesto Armonico with the purpose of exploring, studying and interpreting different repertoires of the chamber music of the 17th and 18th century, following the historical criteria and interpreted with original instrument. Later on, Eva Febrer and Maike Burgdorf joined the project.
One of their aims is to make an approach as faithful as possible to the historically informed interpretation in each of their projects. Regarding the research aspect, the documentation and the in-depth study of treaties and other original sources are two of the main pillars of Il Gesto Armonico.
The ensemble is a versatile formation which takes a greater or lesser number of musicians depending on the program they are working with.
Since its foundation, the ensemble has played in Catalonia, Mallorca, Formentera, France, and Menorca in order to present several programs, the main ones being “Papa Hayden”, entirely devoted to the chamber music of the composer Joseph Haydn; “Danserie Renaissance”, in which they propose a popular ball inspired in the Reinassance, or “Sentio, Ergo Sum”, a program based on the six basic emotions described in René Descartes’ last book, The Emotions of the Soul.
