According to the dictionary, “guiri” is the colloquial word Spanish people use to refer to foreigners, especially those from Europe and the US. The dictionary also explains how the origins of this word can be found in the 19th Carlist Wars. The root of “guiri” is found in “guiritino", a word used by the Basques to refer to their enemies, those who were in favor of Queen Cristina. “Guiris” are those people you can meet on a promenade, wearing sandals and socks. They are distinguished by their reddish skin color, which is a product of sunbathing. “Guiris” are also those that can be found eating paella and drinking sangría at a restaurant where menus are only in English or German. “Guiris” are those that come with a route prepared by a “guiri”, who are guided by a “guiri” that joins them with other “guiris” to see “guiri stuff”. However, do we become guiris when traveling abroad? Have guiris a word to refer to us? Do they still be guiris once in their country?

“UnaiUna” was born due to the relationship of two women who are very different but, at the same time, the same person. They have shared all their artistic life. Laura Lliteras and Marina Fullana met in Palma's music school. Both of them, when they finished their studies in classical dance, moved to Barcelona to continue their superior studies in choreography and interpretation techniques, as well as, in contemporary dance. After they finished their studies, they participated in several dance shows, one of which was awarded by the contest “Art Jove danza contemporánea Islas Baleares”. “UnaiUna” has also collaborated with plastic artists such as Joan Bennàssar, in an exhibition in “Es Baluard”; or with Ole Kristian Tangen and Jesús Benzal with their piece “Empty After”.
