La historia del sastre (The story of the tailor) is the story of Félix García Durán, the tailor. He was imprisoned during the outbreak of the Civil War for belonging to the board of the socialist party of the island of La Palma, Canary Islands. All the confusion and misunderstanding that was experienced during those days, the betrayals and the struggle of his wife and eight children to get on with their lives after being stripped of all their possessions. This is a story of survival and reconciliation, a story of betrayals, but also of affection and support beyond ideologies.
La historia del sastre delves into an aesthetic close to the new expressionism that directors such as Ostermeier and Müller have printed in their proposals. We will radicalize moments of tension and violence. The assembly itself must be to a certain extent uncomfortable, with a radical light, almost of dark lights, where the harmony of the initial space, centered on a tailoring of harmonic lines, gradually desintegrates and disarms in a space of chaos and obscurantism.

This show meets the following Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda:
Genre: Theatre of text
The project of La Sastrería Teatro goes beyond the assembly of a theatrical work, its objective is to consolidate an artistic and technical team that lays the foundations to create a stable structure of professional theater on the island of La Palma. This group is made up of a natural or resident team in La Palma. It is, therefore, a top-level cultural bet made here, called to cover an important gap and consolidate itself as a platform for the professional development of the performing arts on a non-capital island. The starting point was the staging of the work La sombra de don Alonso, by the author Antonio Tabares, in 2018, a text that by theme, approach and opportunity meant a true statement of intentions and the setting whose scene aroused the public's interest and had a wide social impact. We continue with El crimen de La Reserva, also by Antonio Tabares and in 2020 we premiere Juicio a don Juan de Carlos De León. We want to give continuity to this project, which was supported at the beginning of its journey by the Cabildo insular de La Palma, the Ayuntamiento de S/C de La Palma and La Palma World Biosphere Reserve, and which the human and economic efforts that were invested in its start-up fall into disrepair.
The objective of La Sastrería Teatro is to consolidate an artistic and technical team that lays the foundations to create a stable professional theater structure on the island of La Palma.
