Maria Basel is a singer, composer, producer and DJ. As a native of Wuppertal (Germany), she is deeply rooted in the music scene of the Bergisches Land and the Ruhr area. The sound of her solo project of the same name brings together her strengths as a classically trained musician and her preferences for electronic sounds, jazz and RnB. In melancholic harmonies, flickering loops and reflective lyrics, Basel processes encounters from her life in her music, leaving plenty of room for interpretation and association by the listener.

She constantly benefits from her contact with diverse genres and tries to discover new unknown areas with her music.

In addition to her solo project, Maria Basel collaborates with many other cross-genre artists such as Samy Deluxe, Jonas David, Christof Söhngen and Golow.

The musician has already appeared on stage with her own compositions in "Underground IV", a performance by the Pina Bausch Ensemble, and has worked with the opera choir and other classical ensembles from the Wuppertal theaters as part of the Sound of the City project.

In September 2018 she was selected as a winner of the Lalla:Laboratory for Popular Music Promotion at the state level and has been supported by the German Promotion and Export Office Initiative Musik since 2020. In 2021 she was nominated for the popNRW Newcomer Prize and in 2022 she received the Von der Heydt Promotional Prize and the Pop Scholarship.
