A BEGINNING_expanded version is the story of a beginning after an ending. An intuition about an uncertain future, an invitation to a realm of imagination. Combining musical composition and choreographic design, Bauzà and Jou present a theatrical piece in which live singing and lights manipulated by the performers themselves play a central role in constructing a dramaturgical narrative about the (re)beginning of the world.
In darkness, 5 performers explore the relationship between their voice, light and movement, transforming our perception to the point where notions of space and time are suspended and the boundaries between bodies dissolve. The spectator is immersed in an immersive and sensory experience where the bodies and voices of the five singers constantly transform and converge into a unified collective body, inviting us to imagine new ways of communicating, being, and relating in society.
A BEGINNING_expanded version transforms the stage into a realm of imagination, reflecting a future where humans have discovered new forms of survival.
As a result of the artistic collaboration between Bauzà and Jou, the Festival Grec and the Teatre Principal de Palma, the piece will feature the extraordinary participation of membres from the Teatre Principal de Palma Youth Choir, who will be added to the original cast of performers.

Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou are two scenic artists and composers from Mallorca and Barcelona. Their artistic creation is on the border between musical composition, choreography and new theatrical dramaturgies. Voice and sound are at the center of their scenic proposals, which bet more on the experiential than the representational. Since 2019 they have premiered several pieces that work the voice on stage in relation to the body, movement, space or light. Y AM (T)HERE (2020) is a solo for voice and electronics, premiered at the Grec Festival and since then has been presented in a multitude of contexts in the national territory, such as the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Conde Duque in Madrid , the OFF-Liceo Festival in Barcelona, the Festival Cádiz en Danza, the Festival In-Sonora de Madrid Danza Metropolitana, etc. Then they presented WE ARE (T)HERE (2021), for 4 singers/dancers, co-produced by the TNT Festival and the IEB, and that during 2022 has toured throughout Spain, performing in many fairs and festivals such as Feria Tarrega, MeetYou in Valladolid, or La Casa Encendida in Madrid among others. They have also presented a community creation, AQUÍ I NO ALLÀ (2021), performed by amateur choirs of elderly people and presented at the Boombeta Festival, within the Grec 2021. His latest creation, A BEGINNING #16161D, investigates the relationship between light and is co-produced by the Centre Coreographique National d'Orlèans and the Auditori de Barcelona, where it premiered last March. As a result of the collaboration with the Grec 2023 Festival and the co-production of the Teatro Principal de Palma, Bauzà and Jou have created a choral version of the piece, which includes the participation of the Cor Jove del Teatro Principal and has been presented at the Grec Festival, at the Teatro Principal de Palma/Fira B! and at the Teatro Principal de Inca under the title A BEGINNING_expanded version. In parallel, Bauzà and Jou continue to work with other artists as composers, musical playwrights and/or performers. In this sense, they maintain a close collaboration with Alessandro Sciarroni, Maud Le Pladec, Ca Marche, Asun Noales, Sol Picó or Pere Faura among many others.
