DaBraccio Quartet is a string quartet with a classical structure (two violins, a viola and a cello), made up of young musicians trained at the Conservatory of the Balearic Islands. The group began its journey in the city of Palma in the difficult year 2020, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. The idea was to make music among four colleagues and friends with the aim of maintaining the musical practice after the hard months of confinement, while enriching ourselves with the work of research and collective creation that all chamber music proposals imply. Despite the health restrictions, in a few months we will have the honor to play for the Association of Music Mano, for the City Council of Sporles, in the Literary Awards Vila de Perres 2021, in the Porreres Auditorium, in the Night of the Art Jove 2021 (Palma), in Tastart-Noche del Arte de Perres, and in some private events, such as the Oftalmedic Salvà centre and the Bona Llum Foundation (Palma).
We have participated in master classes with professors Juan José Pardo Ramos (Orquesta Sinfónica de las Islas Baleares, OSIB), Sonia Krasnova (OSIB), Cibrán Sierra (Quartet Quiroga), Petr Maceček (Quartet Talich), and at the ZUKUNFTSKLANG Stuttgart, with professor Eugenia Ottaviano (Alinde Quartett).
We will be selected as an emerging ensemble for the Palma Clásica cycle of PalmaCultura (Palma City Council) to open the FALL 2021 season. Also, at the end of 2021, we recorded music for the film Low Punches (a British-produced short film). In 2022, we made our debut in Barcelona with concerts at the Centro Cívico-Ateneu Fort Pienc and the parish of Sant Gaietà, and we also participated in the Winter Cycle of Porto Cristo (Manacor) and in the Primavera Literaria programme of the Fundación Mallorca Literaria, with the concert Quatre Elements, on poems by T.S. Eliot.
In 2022, we premiered the work "Light Beam Quartet", by the young composer and pianist Javier Hombría from Zaragoza, as part of the concert LLUM, in Can Balaguer (Palma), where we also played works by contemporary composers from Mallorca, such as Antoni Mairata March and Josep Prohens Julià, with whom we have worked.
In January 2023 we played in the Classical Cycle of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts (Barcelona), invited by the Association for the Promotion of Classical Music, with works by Dvorak, Webern and Granados.
