Josep Cabot, Pablo Alegría, Miquel Cabot, Bernat Company and Toni Pastor form this pop-rock quintet from Marratxí. In 2018 they were finalists in the 18th edition of the Sona9 contest of the popular magazine Enderrock. A fact that led them to perform in the programme of the BAM Festes de la Merced in Barcelona, record a song in the Bucbonera studios, and appear in different reports in the Catalan media.
Diversity and linguistic richness is the leitmotiv of CABOT's first album. The group's composer and lyricist, Josep Cabot, has diversity very much in mind as the unifying thread of the album, both stylistically and in terms of message. At the 2019 edition of the Balearic Music Awards organised by the enderrock group, they were nominated for three awards, of which they won two of the nominations: the award for Best Song for "Lenguas" and the award for Best New Group.
In September 2020, in the midst of the health crisis caused by Covid-19, they released their new EP, "Premium". Their first single "Tú de donde vienes" stands out, a hymn to human rights with an explicit denunciation of the situation of the refugees trying to cross the Mediterranean. Also noteworthy is the song "canción de verano", which features the participation, for the first time in Catalan, of the Mallorcan musician Luís Alberto Segura. "Premium", despite the fact that the health situation has cancelled most of the group's scheduled concerts, has been very well received by the public, surpassing the number of listens to "Lenguas" on digital platforms.
After presenting the first part of this work in the form of the EP Premium (Moratón 2020), CABOT consolidates this project by adding 5 new songs. The result is Oficio, his second album. Oficio is a tribute to all those people with a vocation for their work. Craftsmen in all senses. From an architect, to a teacher, to a musician when it comes to writing. Craft is what they have tried to have for this album. A quality album by the hand of one of the best musicians on the island, Toni Pastor.
This work is another step up in their sonority: new sounds, which together with arrangements, harmonies, choirs, etc. makes it a musically very rich album. Without forgetting their way of telling stories. And where they recognise diversity in all senses as the secret of the group CABOT. Currently, the group is preparing what will be their third album that will see the light in autumn 2024, and preparing the tour to present this new work where you can see an evolution towards new sounds and new artistic concepts under the stage.
