Carlota Cáceres is a versatile percussionist committed to the performance of contemporary music, both as a soloist and in chamber music. To this end, she has an extensive background in various fields. She graduated with honours and received the end-of-degree award in the Balearic Islands. Subsequently, she furthered her education with two master's degrees in Basel: one in performance and another specialising in contemporary chamber music. She combines this work with her experience at UCSD (University of California), where she was invited by Steve Schick.
Carlota has received multiple scholarships that have consolidated her artistic development and allowed her to train with the most prestigious percussionists in all areas. She won the first and second prizes of the Kiefer Hablitzel Stiftung Wettbeweb, as well as the Förderpreis der BOG für Junge Musikerinnen award. She has participated in festivals such as Darmstadt Ferienkurse, Manifeste, OJAI, Davos Festival, Lucerne Festival, Ruhrtriennale, among others. Additionally, she has extensive orchestral experience, working with notable conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Jesús López Cobos, and Sir Simon Rattle. All this is combined with her passion for contemporary music and her collaboration with ensembles like Klangforum Wien.
Currently, Carlota is a percussion professor at the Conservatori Superior de les Illes Balears and gives masterclasses around the world, promoting new repertoire. She balances this activity with ZAUM_percussion, an ensemble focused on the development of new concepts and new music. Her contribution to the contemporary music scene is a testament to her dedication as a performer and educator.
