Laura Soto Sobejano (1989, Murcia) holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country, where she completed her studies in 2013. Known under the pseudonym LAURA SAM, she began to take her texts to recitals and competitions, making a name for herself in the local scene and, subsequently, reaching numerous national and international festivals where she demonstrates her enormous scenic power with her performances. In 2014, she founded and coordinated Spoken Word Bilbao, a meeting of scenic poetry that brought together writers from all over the country, and which today is called Poemátika, Festival de Poesía Oral y Artes Vivas (Poemátika, Oral Poetry and Living Arts Festival), which has already celebrated three editions. She has published two books ‘Incendiaria’ (Arrebato Libros, 2019, as Laura Sam) and ‘Géiser’ (Ya lo dijo Casimiro Parker, 2020, as Laura Soto).
In addition to her profile as a performing artist, she has been collaborating with the education department of the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, where she has been giving workshops on poetic expression since 2017. Currently, apart from being on tour with her musical project and her spoken word show, she teaches the oral poetry workshop ‘El Poema Físico’ in different centres.
According to SModa, El País' trends magazine, she is the new Spoken Word reference in Spain and the music magazine Nuebo speaks of her as an artist with a universe of her own. She is also one of the most outstanding professionals in Murcia according to Región de Talento magazine.
Laura Sam has also collaborated with other national and international artists, and one of the most outstanding is ‘tampoco puede ser eterno’, where, with Escribano's help, she expands her deep lyrical universe together with Abraham Boba (León Benavente), with whom they even dare with a reggaeton beat in what is possibly their most luminous song to date.
