and that of music, from November 2 to 5
The General Director of Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Catalina Solivellas, and the director of Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics (IEB), Pere Malondra, have presented, today at Ca n'Oleo, the new edition of Fira B! , the Professional Music and Performing Arts Market of the Balearic Islands, which was created in 2015 with the aim of publicising the creations of artists from the Balearic Islands and promoting exchange networks between music and performing arts professionals in the state and international level.
This year, for the first time, the music and performing arts programme at Fira B! will be held in different weeks. Thus, the performing arts programme will be from October 9 to 12, while the music programme will take place from November 2 to 5. “There is great interest from the sector with Fira B and this is demonstrated by the large number of applications we have received. Fira B has become a great window to make visible, not only the artists of our Islands, but also the talent that exists in this community. Because of this interest from programmers and the general public, we wanted to separate the dates to facilitate attendance for everyone who wants to come”, said Catalina Solivellas.
Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics closed on January 29 the artistic call for Fira B! 2023. A total of 880 proposals have been registered, 580 music proposals and 300 performing arts proposals. Music proposals have almost doubled compared to last year, in which a total of 312 proposals were received. In Performing Arts, the 240 proposals received last year have gone from 300 this year.
