POI', AWARDED BEST STREET PERFORMANCE AT FETEN 2023 FAIR

"Poi", by Cia. Des Tro, has been awarded as the best street show at the Feria Europea de Artes Escénicas para niños y niñas (FETEN) 2023, held in Gijón. The show, which was part of the Fira B! 2021 programme, is the story of a rural man trapped since childhood by the gyroscopic effect of his spinning top. A journey of twists and turns that transports us to play, one of the most important states in life.
Behind Poi is the circus artist Guillem Vizcaino, who pays tribute to childhood and to a world that disappears through juggling games and some fifty spinning tops, one of them giant!
The artistic director of FETEN, Idoia Ruiz de Lara, described the show as "poetic and surprising around the skill of the spinning top".
Fusing the circus arts with the popular game of the spinning top and the roots of Mediterranean culture is the main objective of this contemporary show. POI responds to a physical investigation of juggling and manipulation of the object, but also to an artisan investigation regarding the construction of the scenography and spinning tops that Guillem Vizcaíno himself has designed and built.
