The Balearic presence in the performing arts is stronger than ever before.
is stronger than ever
Palma, April 19, 2024
For the second consecutive year, Fira B! and Dansa València have come together in a collaboration agreement that promotes reciprocity between the two events, thus strengthening the cultural and artistic panorama of the region. The Festival opened on 17 April with the show Kor'sia at the Teatro Principal de València.
The first piece shown at the 37th edition of Dansa València was "(A&S) Viatgeres de l'espai" by Cia Baal, which transports the spectator to a fantastic universe through movement and image. This piece, winner of an IEB Creation Award and presented at the last edition of Fira B!, combines dance and interactive technology, aimed especially at children's audiences. The performance took place on 13 April at the Escalante Theatre in Valencia, and was made possible thanks to the strong collaboration between Dansa València and FiraB!
In another highlight of the programme, the Mallorcan artist Aurora Bauzà presents "A BEGINNING_*expanded version", by Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou. It is an exploration of the relationship between voice, light and movement. This project, a fusion between choreographic writing and musical composition, received the support of the IEB through a Creation 2023 grant and was the closing show of the last edition of Fira B! In addition, the Mallorcan dancers Marina Fullana and Laura Lliteres participated in the work "Halley", by Led Silhoutte, by Jon Lopez & Martxell Rodriguez.
As part of the satellite programme for professionals, the project "Mediterranean Pass. Finestra de la Dansa del Mediterrani" was presented at the Sala Rialto, an alliance between professional dance associations from the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community, Andalusia and Catalonia, with the aim of reinforcing the value chain of professionals in creation, exhibition and training. This project has the support of Fira B! and the IEB, which has formed part of the jury for the residency projects and short pieces. One of these short creations from the Balearic Islands will also be presented at Fira B! 2024.
These days, FiraB! and the IEB have been present at the events with the aim of getting to know each other and contributing all their knowledge. The professional days of Dansa València offer a unique opportunity to meet with dance agents and professionals both nationally and internationally, generating synergies and establishing new collaborations that enrich the cultural and artistic panorama.
