AROUND HALF A THOUSAND PROFESSIONALS OF MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS GET ACCREDITED ON THE FIRST DAY OF FIRA B!
Concerts and stage performances continue throughout the weekend
450 music and performing art professionals have been accredited to participate in the first day of the Balearic Island’s professional music and performing arts market, which will be held until Sunday, November 14 in Palma, aiming to publicize and promote the latest and most representative creations of the Balearic artists.
The rain did not dampen the opening of the 6th edition of Fira B! which this year holds 36 concerts and 18 stage performances in emblematic spaces and stages of Palma, such as Teatre Xesc Forteza, Teatre Catalina Valls, Teatre Mar i Terra, Teatre Principal and Es Baluard.
Fondos Europeos, Universidad y Cultura Consuelor, Miquel Company, attended Jansky’s opening concert yesterday, held at night in Es Baluard.
Fira B! differentiates 5 scenarios according to the differents musical styles: pop/rock/indie, jazz, electronic, classic, world music and contemporary. Today, Friday, the entire jazz program stands out, with prominent names such as Pere Bujosa, Muriel Grossmann or Voodoo Children, all of them with the support of the IEB for the creation of their projects. Fira B! also features a performance by Xanguito and La Fúmiga, in Teatre Principal at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively.
In tomorrow’s musical program, the highlight is the concert of the argentine composer, Martin Matalon, who will direct the premiere of the Ensemble Illes Sonores interpreting Metròpolis, the composition that Matalon made for the restored copy of the Fritz Lang film. During the concert, the public will be able to enjoy a great show and sound experience with the projection of the film. On Sunday, Joan Miquel Oliver and Albert Pinya will put an end to the musical program, at 6.30 p.m. at Teatre Mar i Terra.
In the performing arts program there are proposals for text theater, dance, new languages, physical theater, performance, circus and street. Today’s performances include Parella (In)Sostenible, in Trui Teatre al 5.15 p.m., and Aquell Carrer, in Teatre Catalina Valls at 10 p.m. Tomorrow, Saturday, Fils de Vida by Iguana Teatre at 10 p.m. in Teatre Xesc Forteza or Una Galaxia de luciérnagas at 8.30 p.m. in Teatre Principal, among other performances.
The closing of Fira B! will be with P-Acte Idiota, from Hermanas Picohueso, at 10 p.m. in Aljub, Es Baluard.

Within the framework of Fira B! also takes place “Fira B! PRO, les Jornades Professionals”, aiming to be a meeting place for professionals and also helping them to give visibility to their projects, as well as facilitating their external projection. Today, Friday, the professional conferences are held at Teatre Mar i Terra, and tomorrow at Ca n’Oleo, Institut d’Estudis Balearics headquarters.
