Fira B! Labs was created with the aim of expanding and giving continuity throughout 2022 to the professional conferences organized for the professional music and performing arts market of the Islands, Fira B!, which this year will be held between the 11 and 14 of November in Palma. Thus, in this sixth edition of Fira B!, the conferences aimed at performing arts professionals will not only be held during the days of Fira B! but will be extended throughout the coming year.
"The launch of Fira B! Labs responds to the fact that we have detected the importance of creating new actions that allow us to extend and organize, beyond the days of Fira B!, face-to-face professional conferences in the field, especially in the Performing Arts", explains the managing director of the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics (IEB), Mateu Malondra. It is planned to organize specialized meetings and continuous training in collaboration with other agents, such as the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de las Islas Baleares, the Asociación de Dramaturgas y Dramaturgos de las Islas Baleares, the Instituto Ramon Llull, the Conservatorio Superior de Música de las Islas Baleares and the Orquesta Sinfónica de las Islas Baleares, among others.
In addition, during the days of Fira B!, 13 conferences, round tables and meetings have been organized, both in person and online, aimed at professionals from the Balearic Islands and abroad. These events include the round table "Trends and the future of the industry: the performing arts", with the participation of Rodrigo Canales, from the Santiago Off Festival in Chile; Violeta Vasileva, director of international projects at Artshare; Mikey Martins, artistic director of Freedom Festival in Hull; Jenny Vila, from the company La Mecánica, and Irene Pascual, professor at ESADIB and transdisciplinary creator, which will take place at the Teatre Mar i Terra, on Friday November 12 at 1.30 pm. Other activities include a talk on "Creation in today's reality", in which, from the point of view of different creators in the sector, they will discuss the creative process and the challenges presented by today's reality.
One of the main objectives of the conference is to help professionals to give visibility to their projects and facilitate their projection abroad. In this sense, a workshop has been scheduled to provide tools for internationalization and export, given by Vicenç Mayans, from Palosanto Projects, as well as a session in which professionals from national artistic distribution and a company with a strong projection abroad, such as the Picohueso Sisters, will reflect on the keys to success and how to reinforce their presence in international markets.
The sessions also include 7-minute speed meetings with a selection of professionals from the national industry, such as Toni Casares, from Sala Beckett, as well as with other programmers from Europe, Africa and Latin America.
The on-site professional performing arts workshops will be held at Teatre Mar i Terra and Can Oleo. You can consult the complete programme of Fira B! Pro-Jornades Professionals d'arts escèniques at http://www.firab.org/en/p//pro-conference/programme/
